Job Description
Hannah Bennie School (HBS) was established because the children of Kigamboni deserved access to a high-quality English-medium education close to home. To support its expanding technology infrastructure, HBS is seeking highly skilled and self-driven ICT Technicians to join its Information Technology team. The successful candidates will play a critical role in maintaining the school’s technology ecosystem, including networking, systems administration, end-user support, cloud services, and security technologies, ensuring reliable and secure IT services across the institution.
Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain network devices including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points
- Manage LAN, WAN, VLAN, VPN, and wireless network environments to ensure high availability and security
- Troubleshoot network-related issues involving TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, and firewall configurations
- Perform structured cabling, IP addressing, network optimization, and bandwidth management
- Monitor and strengthen network security through access controls, intrusion prevention, and security best practices
- Provide first- and second-level technical support for desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and peripheral equipment
- Install, configure, update, and troubleshoot operating systems including Windows, Linux, and macOS
- Manage user accounts, permissions, authentication, and access controls for Active Directory, email systems, and enterprise applications
- Support remote users through VPN, Remote Desktop, Microsoft 365, and cloud-based services
- Deliver user training and cybersecurity awareness support to staff
- Administer Microsoft 365 and Azure environments, including Entra ID, Intune, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and Microsoft Teams
- Manage user provisioning, group policies, licensing, endpoint compliance, and cloud security settings
- Monitor system performance and apply software updates, security patches, and maintenance procedures
- Install, configure, and maintain CCTV systems, IP cameras, access-control systems, and related security infrastructure
- Troubleshoot video storage systems, surveillance networks, and remote monitoring platforms
- Ensure secure storage, backup, retrieval, and management of surveillance footage
- Maintain biometric systems and entry-management technologies in collaboration with the security department
- Document technical procedures, configurations, incidents, and maintenance activities
Qualification Required:
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
- Minimum of three years of experience in networking, systems administration, technical support, cloud administration, or security systems
- Experience working with networking equipment such as Cisco, MikroTik, Ubiquiti, and Fortinet solutions
- Hands-on experience with firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, network security principles, and infrastructure management
- Advanced computer proficiency across Windows, Linux, cloud platforms, and enterprise systems
- Professional certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, MCSA, MCSE, Microsoft 365 Certified: Endpoint Administrator, CompTIA A+, Network+, Fortinet NSE, MikroTik MTCNA, or ITIL Foundation are highly desirable
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- Strong communication, customer service, and technical documentation skills
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
