Job Description

Hannah Bennie School (HBS) was established to provide children in Kigamboni with access to high-quality English-medium education close to home. To strengthen its finance function, HBS is seeking a competent and detail-oriented Accountant to join its team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and supporting sound financial management practices that contribute to the school’s long-term success.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable accounting standards
  • Oversee general ledger activities and perform regular financial reconciliations
  • Ensure compliance with Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) tax laws and statutory financial reporting requirements
  • Assist in internal audits and support financial risk management initiatives
  • Support the Finance Manager in preparing budgets, forecasts, and cost-saving strategies
  • Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation
  • Assist in monitoring expenditures and ensuring efficient utilization of resources

Qualification Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA (T) certification or ACCA registration with NBAA is an added advantage
  • At least three years of experience in financial reporting and accounting
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, SAP, Xero, or Zoho
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail
