Full Job Description
The World Food Programme (WFP) is recruiting for the position of HR Associate (SC-6) based in Dar es Salaam. The organization is seeking a highly organized and experienced human resources professional to support both operational HR service delivery and strategic HR initiatives within a dynamic humanitarian environment. The role reports directly to the Head of HR.
The HR Associate will provide comprehensive HR support including payroll administration, HR analytics, recruitment coordination, employee relations, and compliance management. The position plays a key role in ensuring efficient HR service delivery, data integrity, and alignment with WFP policies and global HR standards.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the first point of contact for HR-related guidance and advisory services
- Provide support on HR policies including entitlements, contracts, staffing, and performance management
- Support monthly payroll processing and validation of HR data, entitlements, and deductions
- Administer end-to-end payroll processes in compliance with UN and organizational standards
- Maintain HR data integrity in HR systems such as Workday, SAP, PASpot, or WINGS
- Prepare HR reports, dashboards, and analytics for management and donor reporting
- Collect and analyze HR data including workforce trends, turnover, diversity, and performance metrics
- Coordinate recruitment processes from vacancy posting to onboarding and induction
- Support employee onboarding, orientation, and integration programs
- Assist in employee wellness and psychosocial support initiatives
- Support performance management processes and ensure timely completion of evaluations
- Coordinate learning and development activities including training needs assessments
- Maintain accurate HR records, contracts, and personnel documentation
- Prepare HR documents such as contracts, transfer letters, and separation documents
- Support HR audits, compliance reviews, and reporting requirements
- Monitor staff movements and support administrative HR actions
- Contribute to implementation of HR policies, systems, and organizational change initiatives
- Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives within HR operations
Qualifications
- Secondary school education with post-secondary certification in HR or related field
- University degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, Psychology, or related field preferred
- Minimum of 6 years’ progressive experience in Human Resources, preferably in humanitarian or development organizations
- Strong understanding of HR policies, procedures, and administrative systems
- Experience in payroll management and HR operations
- Strong HR data analysis and reporting skills
- Familiarity with HRIS systems such as Workday, SAP, or WINGS
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to work in multicultural and dynamic environments
- Strong problem-solving and client service orientation
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Fluency in English and Kiswahili
