TotalEnergies is recruiting a Category Manager – Non Shop based in Dar es Salaam. The role is responsible for optimizing turnover, rental income, and profit margins within assigned non-shop categories while supporting implementation of strategic business initiatives across the company’s retail network.
The successful candidate will work closely with the SFS Manager, field merchandisers, and Retail Territory Managers to oversee category projects, improve sales performance, manage third-party partnerships, and ensure compliance with HSEQ, HACCP, and SFS standards. The role also involves regular customer and partner engagement, promotional planning, business analysis, and support for commercial growth initiatives.
Responsibilities include:
- Working closely with the SFS Manager and SFS team to oversee projects aimed at optimizing turnover, rent, and margins within assigned categories.
- Defining short, medium, and long-term strategies for category growth and performance improvement.
- Ensuring compliance with HSEQ, HACCP, and SFS standards by all business partners and stakeholders.
- Participating in investigations related to incidents, customer complaints, and audit findings.
- Developing business proposals, service concepts, and innovation plans aligned with company strategy.
- Analyzing sales performance, margins, revenues, and category profitability together with the SFS data analyst.
- Monitoring turnover from services and verifying monthly turnover-based rent calculations.
- Defining and communicating promotional activities to dealers and Territory Managers in coordination with the SFS Manager.
- Implementing annual promotional calendars with third-party partners and evaluating promotional effectiveness on sales performance.
- Following up maintenance-related issues and supporting negotiation of maintenance contracts with technical teams.
- Supporting the Technical Department on layouts and plans for TQAS and Bays concepts.
- Managing relationships with third parties including banks, insurance companies, and other business partners.
- Supporting achievement of budget objectives through commissions, fees, and partner-related revenues.
- Enforcing agreed operational terms between partners and the company.
- Raising invoices related to third-party agreements and ensuring timely payment collection.
- Expanding existing business partnerships by identifying opportunities for additional sites and services.
- Conducting category performance analysis and implementing corrective measures to improve results.
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of three years relevant experience in FMCG, hospitality, or related commercial environments with knowledge of retail network operations.
- Good understanding of marketing and sales principles.
- Basic accounting knowledge and financial analysis skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical, innovative, and creative thinking abilities.
- Good interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and business relationships effectively.
