Full Job Description
Platform Engineer at CRDB Bank is a permanent ICT role based at the Tanzania Head Office within the Department of ICT. Reporting to the Manager: Integration Platforms, the position is responsible for supporting and optimizing the bank’s WSO2 integration environment to ensure secure, reliable, and efficient communication between banking systems, applications, APIs, and digital services.
The role focuses on middleware operations, enterprise integration support, API management, and system monitoring within a high-availability banking environment. The successful candidate will manage day-to-day WSO2 platform operations, troubleshoot integration issues, support deployments, monitor performance, and ensure integration services meet operational and security standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Monitoring WSO2 components including Enterprise Integrator, API Manager, Micro Integrator, and API Gateway
- Ensuring high availability and performance of APIs and integration services
- Monitoring service health, message flows, and overall system performance
- Identifying and resolving integration failures and bottlenecks proactively
- Managing incidents, service requests, and problem tickets related to ESB operations
- Conducting root cause analysis and implementing long-term fixes
- Coordinating with application, infrastructure, network teams, and vendors
- Ensuring compliance with service level agreements (SLAs)
- Supporting deployment and configuration of APIs and integration services on WSO2
- Troubleshooting mediation logic, routing, and transformation issues
- Validating XML and JSON payloads and integration flows
- Supporting API security implementation including OAuth2, SSL, and API security policies
- Assisting development teams during testing, UAT, and production deployments
- Performing routine maintenance, backups, patching, and system optimization
- Managing queues, logs, connectors, and service endpoints
- Implementing scalability and high-availability configurations
- Maintaining integration documentation, SOPs, and technical knowledge bases
Requirements include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in middleware or ESB support using WSO2 technologies
- WSO2 Certified Developer or Integration Professional certification
- ITIL Foundation Certification
- Cloud certifications such as Microsoft Azure or AWS are an added advantage
- Experience working in enterprise environments such as banking, telecom, fintech, or government
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- WSO2 Enterprise Integrator / Micro Integrator
- WSO2 API Manager
- WSO2 API Gateway
- WSO2 deployment and clustering
- Knowledge of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and microservices
- Experience with RESTful and SOAP web services
- Understanding of messaging protocols including HTTP/S, JMS, and MQ
- Proficiency in XML, JSON, and XSLT
- Experience with data mapping and transformation logic
- Linux/Unix administration skills
- Experience using monitoring tools such as ELK Stack and Grafana
- Knowledge of CI/CD tools including Jenkins and Git
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and technical support skills
