Full Job Description
Platform Engineer at CRDB Bank is a permanent ICT position based at the Tanzania Head Office within the Department of ICT. Reporting to the Manager: Integration Platforms, the role focuses on managing, monitoring, supporting, and optimizing the bank’s WSO2 integration platform to ensure secure, stable, and high-performing integrations across banking systems and digital services.
The role is responsible for maintaining middleware and enterprise service bus (ESB) operations that support critical banking applications, APIs, and system integrations. The successful candidate will ensure high availability of integration services, troubleshoot technical issues, support deployments, and optimize integration performance across the bank’s technology environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Monitoring WSO2 components including Enterprise Integrator, API Manager, Micro Integrator, and API Gateway
- Ensuring high availability and reliability of APIs and integration services
- Tracking message flows, service health, and system performance
- Identifying and resolving integration bottlenecks and failures proactively
- Managing incidents, service requests, and operational issues related to ESB platforms
- Performing root cause analysis and implementing permanent fixes
- Coordinating with internal application, infrastructure, network teams, and vendors
- Ensuring adherence to service level agreements (SLAs)
- Supporting deployment and configuration of APIs, services, and integrations on WSO2
- Troubleshooting mediation logic, routing, transformation, and integration flow issues
- Validating XML and JSON payloads
- Ensuring API security compliance including OAuth2, SSL, and API security policies
- Supporting developers during testing, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and production releases
- Performing routine maintenance, backups, patching, and performance optimization
- Managing queues, logs, service endpoints, and connectors
- Implementing scalability and high-availability configurations
- Maintaining technical documentation, SOPs, and knowledge base materials
Requirements include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in middleware or ESB support using WSO2 technologies
- WSO2 Certified Developer or Integration Professional certification
- ITIL Foundation Certification
- Cloud certifications such as Azure or AWS are an added advantage
- Experience working in enterprise environments such as banking, telecom, fintech, or government institutions
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- WSO2 Enterprise Integrator / Micro Integrator
- WSO2 API Manager
- WSO2 API Gateway
- WSO2 deployment and clustering
- Understanding of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and microservices
- Knowledge of RESTful and SOAP web services
- Familiarity with messaging protocols including HTTP/S, JMS, and MQ
- Proficiency in XML, JSON, and XSLT
- Experience in data mapping and transformation logic
- Linux/Unix administration skills
- Experience using monitoring tools such as ELK Stack and Grafana
- Knowledge of CI/CD tools including Jenkins and Git
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and technical support skills
