Project Zawadi is inviting applications from qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Fundraising and Communications Manager. The organization has worked for 25 years in Tanzania’s Bunda District in Mara Region, partnering with students, teachers, and communities to improve access to quality education through student sponsorship, school support, and teacher training programs.

Location: Arusha with travel to Mara Region

The Fundraising and Communications Manager will focus on identifying fundraising opportunities, strengthening donor relationships, supporting communication strategies, and coordinating fundraising activities across teams. The role combines donor engagement, strategic communication, partnership development, storytelling, and programme coordination.
Key responsibilities include:
• Supporting fundraising initiatives in Tanzania through donor and partnership development
• Assisting with donor outreach, engagement, and follow-up activities
• Coordinating fundraising events including the November event in Arusha and the Chamriho event in Bunda
• Working with field teams to collect stories and develop impact-driven communication content
• Maintaining strong donor communication between Tanzania and U.S. teams
• Preparing donor updates, newsletters, social media content, grant documentation, sponsorship records, and fundraising reports
• Assisting in the preparation of fundraising targets, budgets, and communication plans
• Supporting programme assessments and feasibility studies in collaboration with the Programme Team
• Preparing monthly and quarterly fundraising and communication reports
• Developing institutional fundraising, communication, and partnership strategies
• Training programme staff on donor relations, compliance, reporting, contract management, and fundraising practices
Applicants should possess the following qualifications and competencies:
• Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, International Relations, Sociology, Agriculture Economics, or related fields
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in grant writing, donor contract management, partnership development, networking, and strategic communication
• Strong understanding of programme development in education, livelihoods, gender and GBV, child protection, and related sectors
• Experience managing social media platforms, newsletters, organizational branding, communication materials, and success stories
• Skills in content creation, storytelling, digital communication, photography coordination, and stakeholder engagement
• Experience in communication planning, media engagement, and event coordination
• Strong proposal writing, report writing, and communication skills
• Excellent networking, leadership, interpersonal, and analytical skills
• Ability to represent the organization in donor forums and partnership engagements with NGOs, government institutions, media, and stakeholders
• Experience training staff on donor compliance, fundraising, contract management, and communication standards
• Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines
