Position Summary
The Resource Development & Management Lead – Africa is part of the Resource Development team within VisionFund’s Business Development Department. The role focuses on securing funding and managing grants that support VisionFund’s financial inclusion programs across the African region.
The position leads funding acquisition, donor engagement, and grant management activities while ensuring compliance with donor requirements and VisionFund’s strategic priorities. It also provides leadership and technical support to Microfinance Institutions (MFIs) on grant acquisition, project monitoring, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Resource Development
- Manage all components of the Request for Proposal (RFP) response process, including reviewing opportunities and ensuring alignment with funding priorities.
- Research and assess funding organizations in collaboration with World Vision offices.
- Develop and maintain a funding opportunity pipeline aligned with VisionFund’s strategy.
- Lead proposal development processes and ensure timely submission of high-quality proposals.
- Provide technical support and capacity building for field staff on proposal development, monitoring, and reporting.
- Develop and maintain relationships with regional funders and World Vision offices.
Relationship Development and Networking
- Build relationships with regional funding institutions and donors.
- Work closely with regional World Vision offices to strengthen fundraising opportunities.
- Participate in sector forums, seminars, and partnerships to enhance VisionFund’s visibility and funding opportunities.
- Maintain awareness of microfinance industry trends and donor priorities.
Grant and Contract Management
- Monitor project compliance to ensure donor requirements are met.
- Support MFIs in preparing high-quality impact and progress reports.
- Review grant contracts and ensure risk management and effective fund flow.
- Ensure all due diligence and donor compliance requirements are fulfilled.
Systems, Processes, and Capacity Development
- Monitor the performance and impact of grant-funded projects.
- Conduct evaluations and apply lessons learned to improve programs.
- Ensure effective systems for financial tracking and reporting.
- Contribute to proposal content libraries and grant management policies.
- Provide training and capacity building for staff on grant management.
Required Qualifications
- University degree in International Development, International Relations, Marketing, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in grant acquisition, fundraising, or corporate management at a senior level.
- Experience working in development projects involving grants.
- Strong research, analytical, and strategic problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated expertise in proposal writing and donor communication.
- Ability to work within complex organizational and financial systems.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a relevant field, accounting qualification, or grants management certification.
- Experience in financial inclusion or microfinance sectors.
- International work experience, particularly in developing or fragile contexts.
- Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and complex stakeholder relationships.
- Cross-cultural communication skills and diplomacy.
- Ability to train staff on grant policies and procedures.
- Written and spoken French is an added advantage.
Travel Requirements
The role requires up to 30% travel, including domestic and international travel to remote and fragile areas where VisionFund operates.
