Job Description

HR and Administration Officer at Water Mission – 2026

Water Mission is seeking a qualified HR and Administration Officer to provide day-to-day Human Resources and administrative support for its Tanzania operations. This role is ideal for a professional with experience in recruitment, employee records, office administration, and HR compliance who is passionate about serving communities through meaningful work.

Water Mission is a Christian engineering nonprofit dedicated to ending the global water crisis by providing safe water, sanitation, and hygiene solutions. The organization works with communities across Tanzania and other countries to improve health and transform lives through sustainable water access.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support recruitment, interview scheduling, candidate communication, and onboarding activities.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, leave records, and HR documentation.
  • Administer employee benefits, including medical and life insurance updates.
  • Assist with employee relations, disciplinary processes, grievances, and performance documentation.
  • Maintain HR compliance trackers and support audits.
  • Supervise reception services and manage front office operations.
  • Coordinate office supplies, utilities, infrastructure, and cleanliness.
  • Plan travel, accommodation, airport pickups, and transport logistics for staff and visitors.
  • Maintain vehicle records, insurance, registration, service logs, and fuel monitoring.
  • Supervise drivers and coordinate efficient vehicle deployment.
  • Prepare HR and administration reports for management.
  • Ensure confidentiality, professionalism, and compliance with organizational policies.
  • Support regional and global HR initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications required:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in HR, administration, or a similar support role.
  • Previous NGO or international organization experience is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of Tanzanian employment practices and HR processes.
  • Experience in recruitment, employee records, leave, and benefits administration.
  • Fluency in English and Kiswahili.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to maintain confidential records and prepare accurate reports.
  • Willingness to travel within Tanzania as required.
  • Legal authorization to work in Tanzania without sponsorship.
