About the Role

The Maintenance Planner serves as the key link between maintenance and production departments, ensuring that preventive and corrective maintenance activities are properly planned, scheduled, and executed. The role focuses on improving equipment reliability, maintaining accurate asset information, supporting shutdown planning, and promoting best practices in maintenance management.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop long-range and short-range maintenance plans for assigned production areas.
• Coordinate maintenance activities between plant and maintenance departments.
• Plan preventive maintenance to improve equipment availability and reliability.
• Analyze maintenance backlog and prioritize work according to available resources.
• Develop and maintain detailed job plans, work packages, and maintenance procedures.
• Maintain accurate asset master data, equipment specifications, bills of materials, and work history.
• Review, screen, and process maintenance work orders for completeness and priority.
• Estimate labour hours, materials, tools, manpower, and maintenance costs.
• Reserve and coordinate the availability of spare parts and critical materials before scheduling.
• Support maintenance scheduling by identifying maintenance windows and coordinating shutdown activities.
• Ensure safety requirements are integrated into all maintenance planning activities.
• Monitor maintenance costs against budgets and recommend cost-saving improvements.
• Maintain maintenance records, technical libraries, reports, and recurring job packages.
• Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, planners, and production teams to improve maintenance performance.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should possess:

• Mechanical or Electrical Engineering background.
• Technical school training will be an added advantage.
• A valid Tanzanian driving licence.
• Previous experience in manufacturing or industrial operations.
• Strong understanding of OSHA standards and Mines Health & Safety requirements.
• 5–10 years of maintenance planning experience within the mining industry.
• Experience estimating labour hours, required trades, and skill levels.
• Sound knowledge of SAP or a similar computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
• Strong understanding of maintenance planning and scheduling methodologies.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
