Inventory Specialist at Shanta Mining Company Limited

Shanta Mining Company Limited is inviting applications from qualified and experienced professionals for the position of Inventory Specialist based in Songwe. This full-time role is responsible for managing and optimizing consumables and spare-parts inventory to ensure the timely and reliable supply of materials required for mining operations.

The successful candidate will oversee inventory planning, stock control, ERP data management, materials requirements planning, reporting, and inventory team supervision while supporting cost reduction, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement across the mining operation.

Responsibilities

• Manage inventory levels, replenishment, and re-order requirements for critical, insurance, and fast-moving materials.

  

• Minimize redundant, obsolete, and excess inventory while maintaining optimal stock availability.

• Plan and coordinate stock counts and inventory verification exercises.

  

• Investigate and reconcile inventory discrepancies and process approved stock adjustments.

• Manage Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) reconciliations and purchase requisitions.

  

• Maintain accurate inventory master data and stock classifications in Syspro.

• Review requests for new stock introductions and monitor historical stock movements.

  

• Manage obsolete, redundant, and excess inventory effectively.

• Coordinate Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) with Heads of Department and end users.

• Participate in Underground and Process Plant production meetings to address inventory requirements.

• Prepare accurate daily, weekly, and monthly inventory reports.

• Provide inventory analysis to support operational and stock management decisions.

• Supervise, train, and develop inventory personnel.

• Manage inventory manpower effectively and ensure compliance with company safety, health, environmental, and asset protection requirements.

Qualifications Required

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Procurement and Supplies, Engineering, or a related field.

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in inventory management or inventory control.

• Previous experience in the mining or construction industry.

• Strong understanding of stores management, procurement, inventory management systems, and finance processes.

• Sound knowledge of material movement systems.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

• Strong data analysis and reporting skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to build effective working relationships across departments.

• Experience using Syspro or a similar ERP or inventory management system.

• High standards of honesty, integrity, accountability, and teamwork.
