People Project Co Limited is recruiting on behalf of a growing mining company in Tanzania for an experienced Plant Manager to oversee the safe, efficient, and commercially responsible operation of a mineral processing plant. The role is focused on achieving production and recovery targets while maintaining product quality, equipment reliability, workplace safety, and cost efficiency.
The successful candidate will provide overall operational leadership across the processing plant, coordinating production, metallurgy, maintenance, engineering, laboratory, mining, geology, and other site functions. The position is particularly suited to an experienced mineral processing professional with strong gold-processing experience, leadership capability, and a proven record in plant optimization and operational management.
Responsibilities

Lead daily mineral processing plant operations to achieve production, recovery, and product quality targets.

Develop and implement production plans, operating procedures, and key performance indicators (KPIs).

Maximize plant throughput and recovery while reducing downtime, process losses, and operating costs.

Monitor and optimize crushing, grinding, screening, gravity concentration, leaching, and other processing circuits.

Analyze production and metallurgical data to identify opportunities for improvement.

Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production and operational reports.

Prepare production forecasts and monitor performance against targets.
-
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve plant efficiency and productivity.

Monitor metallurgical performance and implement corrective measures.

Maintain accurate metallurgical accounting, production reconciliation, and inventory records.

Support plant commissioning, expansion, debottlenecking, and process modification projects.

Ensure plant operating procedures comply with industry best practices.

Work with engineering and maintenance teams to develop preventive and predictive maintenance programmes.

Maintain high equipment availability and reliability.

Monitor consumption of fuel, electricity, water, reagents, chemicals, and other operating consumables.

Coordinate with equipment suppliers and contractors to ensure technical compliance and quality workmanship.

Lead, mentor, and develop plant supervisors, operators, technicians, and support teams.

Promote accountability, safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

Conduct performance reviews and support workforce planning, succession planning, and employee development.

Promote collaboration between plant operations, mining, geology, laboratory, engineering, maintenance, and site management teams.

Maintain a strong safety culture across plant operations.

Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards, environmental regulations, and mining legislation.

Lead incident investigations, risk assessments, corrective actions, and safety improvement programmes.

Ensure environmental controls and statutory reporting requirements are properly implemented.

Prepare and manage plant budgets and operating costs.

Monitor expenditure and identify opportunities for cost reduction.

Support procurement planning, supplier management, and contractor performance monitoring.

Ensure effective management of spare parts and operating consumables.
Qualifications and Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Mineral Processing, Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

Professional registration or membership with a recognized engineering or mining body is an added advantage.

Minimum 8–10 years of experience in mineral processing operations.

At least 3 years of experience as a Plant Manager, Senior Plant Superintendent, or in a similar operational leadership position.

Strong experience in gold processing operations is highly preferred.

Strong knowledge of mineral processing plant management.

Experience in production planning and metallurgical accounting.

Experience coordinating maintenance activities.

Experience managing operational budgets and costs.

Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary teams in mining and remote operational environments.

Experience with plant commissioning, expansion, and process optimization projects.

Experience working in Tanzania or the East African mining sector is desirable.
