Dialysis Medical Doctor (MD)

Africa Healthcare Network (AHN) is inviting applications for the position of Dialysis Medical Doctor (MD) to join its dialysis unit in Haydom, Tanzania. This full-time opportunity is ideal for qualified medical doctors who are passionate about delivering high-quality renal care and improving the lives of patients with kidney disease. The successful candidate will provide clinical leadership, oversee dialysis patient management, and ensure continuity of care while working alongside multidisciplinary healthcare teams.

The Dialysis Medical Doctor will collaborate with nephrologists, nurses, and hospital staff across AHN locations, including Haydom, Mwanza, and Arusha, to deliver safe, patient-centred dialysis services. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain specialized experience in nephrology while contributing to one of Africa's leading providers of dialysis care.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership within the dialysis unit.

• Manage the medical care of patients receiving dialysis treatment.

  

• Conduct patient rounds before and after dialysis sessions.

• Assess patients and manage dialysis-related complications.

• Prescribe and monitor medications for dialysis patients.

• Educate and counsel patients and their families on treatment and disease management.

• Ensure continuity of care through comprehensive patient follow-up.

• Respond to emergency calls and provide urgent medical care when required.

• Assess and consult on renal patients admitted to various hospital units.

• Maintain accurate patient records and complete all required clinical documentation.

• Ensure compliance with medical regulations, quality standards, and hospital policies.

• Collaborate closely with nephrologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

• Support administrative duties, including patient documentation, NHIF forms, and monthly reports.

• Participate in unit meetings, Continuing Medical Education (CME) sessions, and hospital activities.

• Assist with dialysis procedures, emergency interventions, and nutritional assessments.

• Support visiting healthcare professionals and contribute to a positive clinical environment.

• Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold professional standards at all times.

Qualifications Required

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from a recognized university.

• Registered with the Medical Council of Tanganyika (MCT).

• Valid and active practicing licence.

• Previous training in dialysis is preferred but not mandatory.

• Good understanding of health, safety, and quality standards in healthcare.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

• Strong clinical decision-making and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
