Job Description

National Insurance Corporation (NIC) is the leading insurance company in Tanzania, established under the Companies Ordinance Act, CAP 212, to transact insurance business of all forms and to re-insure or co-insure. The Corporation is inviting dynamic, proactive, motivated and suitably qualified Tanzanian applicants to apply for its Volunteer Programme.

The volunteer programme is designed to give young Tanzanians an opportunity to gain practical skills, professional exposure and valuable work experience in the insurance industry. NIC has announced five volunteer positions for Insurance Officer II.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants for the Insurance Officer II position must meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Insurance.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Protection.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Risk Management.

  • Equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.

  • Knowledge of insurance products.

General Conditions

Applicants must meet the following general conditions:

  • Must be a Tanzanian citizen.

  • Must be aged not below 18 years and not above 35 years.

  • Must never have been employed in any public institution since graduating from their studies.

  • Must not have been convicted by a court of law for criminal offences or disciplinary misconduct.

  • Must have good conduct and behaviour acceptable to the community.

  • The volunteer period shall not exceed 12 months and may be renewed for a maximum of two additional periods.

  • Copy of National ID, Voter Registration ID or Driving Licence.

  • Introduction letter from the Local Government.

  • Application letter addressed to the Managing Director of NIC, clearly stating the position being applied for.

  • Names and reliable contact details of three reputable referees.
