Teller In-Charge

Sango Energy is seeking a Teller In-Charge to supervise daily teller and front-desk financial operations in Tanga. The position involves overseeing cash handling, agency banking, mobile money services, reconciliations, high-value transactions, and compliance with internal financial controls.

The role is suitable for an experienced banking, finance, or cash-operations professional who can combine strong numerical accuracy with leadership and customer-service skills. The successful candidate will also coach tellers, manage cash floats, investigate discrepancies, and prepare financial transaction reports for management.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily teller activities and ensure compliance with company policies and financial controls.

• Oversee cash deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and mobile money transactions.

  

• Manage bill payments and agency banking services.

• Ensure transactions across banks and mobile networks are processed accurately and efficiently.

• Verify, authorize, and monitor high-value or sensitive transactions.

• Manage teller cash floats and ensure sufficient liquidity for daily operations.

• Monitor and reconcile daily cash and till balances.

• Reconcile transaction logs against system records.

• Investigate and resolve transaction discrepancies, errors, and cash overages or shortages.

• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly transaction summaries and cash reports.

• Handle customer inquiries and resolve transaction-related complaints professionally.

• Train, mentor, and support tellers to improve service quality and operational efficiency.

• Maintain strict confidentiality of customer accounts and company financial information.

• Ensure strong financial security and fraud-prevention controls are followed.

Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Banking, Business Administration, or a related field.

• Strong honesty, trustworthiness, and personal ethics.

• Practical experience handling high-volume cash operations.

• Knowledge of banking procedures and mobile money networks, including:

  • M-Pesa

  • Airtel Money

  • Mixx by Yas

  • HaloPesa

• Strong numerical and reconciliation skills.

• Excellent attention to detail.

• Strong customer-service skills.

• Leadership and team-management abilities.

• Good problem-solving skills.
