Teller (Banking & Mobile Money)

Sango Energy is seeking a Teller to handle daily customer financial transactions at its Tanga operations. The role involves processing cash deposits, withdrawals, account transfers, mobile money transactions, utility payments, and other financial services while maintaining accurate cash records and providing professional customer service.

The position is suitable for candidates with qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Banking, Business Administration, or a related field. Accuracy, honesty, integrity, attention to detail, and the ability to work calmly under pressure are particularly important because the role involves handling cash and sensitive customer information.

Responsibilities

• Process cash deposits, withdrawals, and account transfers through agency banking networks.

• Execute mobile money cash-in and cash-out transactions through networks such as M-Pesa, Airtel Money, Mixx by Yas, and HaloPesa.

  

• Process utility bill payments, government payments, and merchant cash transactions.

• Maintain accurate cash drawer and till balances throughout operating hours.

• Conduct start-of-day and end-of-day cash counts.

• Reconcile daily transaction records with system balances.

• Identify and immediately report transaction errors and cash discrepancies to the supervisor.

• Provide professional, efficient, and customer-focused service.

• Verify customer identities and account details before processing transactions.

• Follow financial security controls and company procedures.

• Protect customer information and comply with privacy requirements.

• Maintain accurate transaction records and documentation.

Requirements

• Certificate, Diploma, or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Banking, Business Administration, or a related field.

• Excellent cash-handling accuracy.

• Basic computer literacy.

• Ability to use digital financial transaction systems and POS terminals.

• Previous experience in agency banking, financial service centres, cashiering, or mobile money operations is an added advantage.
