Dangote Industries Limited is looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its cement manufacturing operations in Mtwara. The position is focused on leading mechanical maintenance activities, improving equipment reliability, and ensuring that critical cement-production machinery operates safely and efficiently.
The successful candidate will provide technical leadership to engineering and maintenance teams while overseeing preventive and breakdown maintenance. The role is particularly suited to mechanical engineers with extensive industrial maintenance experience, especially those who have worked with cement-production equipment and SAP maintenance systems.
Responsibilities

Provide technical expertise in the operation and maintenance of mechanical equipment used in cement production.

Supervise maintenance activities involving equipment such as vertical roller mills and reclaimers.

Lead and guide a team of engineers and maintenance personnel.

Ensure maintenance activities are completed on time and according to required quality standards.

Plan and implement preventive maintenance schedules.

Coordinate breakdown maintenance to minimize equipment downtime.

Conduct equipment failure investigations and implement corrective actions.

Improve equipment reliability, plant availability, MTBF, and MTTR.

Plan and allocate manpower for daily equipment monitoring, breakdown maintenance, and plant shutdown activities.

Prepare and maintain mechanical equipment inspection and maintenance checklists.

Monitor the condition of plant equipment and ensure timely repairs.

Plan and maintain adequate spare-parts inventory for continuous production.

Ensure mechanical equipment remains in safe operating condition.

Use SAP MM and SAP PM modules for maintenance and materials-management activities.

Participate in equipment upgrades, modifications, and improvement projects.

Promote safe working practices among maintenance teams.

Train and guide team members on safe and effective maintenance practices.

Investigate mechanical incidents and equipment failures and recommend appropriate solutions.

Perform other duties assigned by the Section Head or Head of Department.
Qualifications and Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

Minimum 8 years of experience in mechanical maintenance.

Experience in a cement manufacturing plant is preferred.

Experience with SAP is required.

Strong knowledge of mechanical maintenance practices.

Knowledge of cement-production machinery and processes.

Experience with equipment reliability and preventive maintenance.
