Job Description

Bonite Bottlers Ltd is seeking a qualified Heavy Duty Vehicle Technician to join its team in Moshi, Kilimanjaro. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and servicing heavy-duty vehicles to ensure they remain safe, reliable, and operational. The role covers major vehicle systems, including engines, braking, transmission, suspension, and electrical systems.

This is a full-time, in-office opportunity suitable for candidates with technical training in Motor Vehicle Mechanics or a related Heavy-Duty Vehicle course from VETA or another recognized institution. Applicants should have a good understanding of heavy vehicle systems, strong troubleshooting abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out maintenance of heavy-duty vehicles and related systems.

  • Inspect heavy vehicles to identify mechanical and electrical faults.

  • Diagnose faults affecting heavy vehicle systems.

  • Troubleshoot vehicle problems and determine appropriate corrective actions.

  • Maintain and service vehicle engines.

  • Inspect and maintain braking systems.

  • Maintain and troubleshoot transmission systems.

  • Inspect and maintain suspension systems.

  • Diagnose and address faults in vehicle electrical systems.

  • Conduct routine checks to identify potential vehicle problems.

  • Carry out necessary repairs and maintenance to keep vehicles operational.

  • Ensure heavy-duty vehicles are maintained in safe working condition.

  • Follow established maintenance and workshop procedures.

  • Report major vehicle faults and maintenance requirements when necessary.

  • Maintain a high level of accuracy when carrying out technical work.

  • Work independently with minimal supervision while meeting assigned responsibilities.

  • Observe workplace safety requirements during maintenance activities.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Certificate in Motor Vehicle Mechanics; or

  • Certificate in a related Heavy-Duty Vehicle (HDV) course from VETA or a recognized college.

  • Knowledge of heavy-duty vehicle systems, including:

    • Engines

    • Braking systems

    • Transmission systems

    • Suspension systems

    • Electrical systems

  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot heavy vehicle faults.

  • Practical understanding of vehicle maintenance and repair.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • High level of integrity and professionalism.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to identify mechanical and electrical problems accurately.

  • Commitment to maintaining safe and reliable vehicles.
