Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be responsible for:

Developing and implementing the plant's mechanical maintenance strategy.

Managing preventive, predictive, condition-based, and corrective maintenance programs.

Improving equipment reliability through root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.

Establishing maintenance standards for lubrication, alignment, balancing, vibration monitoring, thermography, and oil analysis.

Maintaining accurate equipment records and maintenance documentation using CMMS/SAP.

Leading maintenance of crushers, raw mills, coal mills, rotary kilns, preheaters, clinker coolers, cement mills, separators, packing plants, and bulk-loading systems.

Ensuring reliability of gearboxes, bearings, hydraulic systems, conveyors, pumps, compressors, elevators, feeders, and utility equipment.

Maintaining the mechanical integrity of kiln systems and associated equipment.

Directing precision maintenance activities including laser alignment, balancing, welding, machining, fabrication, and non-destructive testing.

Coordinating OEM specialists during major overhauls, upgrades, and technical interventions.

Planning and managing annual shutdowns and major maintenance projects.
-
Managing mechanical CAPEX projects within approved budgets and schedules.

Supporting equipment installation, commissioning, and performance testing.

Promoting strict compliance with safety procedures, permit-to-work systems, and engineering standards.

Investigating incidents and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.

Managing maintenance budgets and optimizing maintenance costs.

Controlling critical spare parts inventory and contractor performance.

Leading, coaching, mentoring, and developing the mechanical maintenance workforce.

Collaborating with production, electrical, automation, mining, procurement, quality, and HSE teams.

Leading reliability review meetings and driving continuous operational improvement.
Qualifications Required
Applicants should possess:

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Master's Degree or professional engineering certification is an added advantage.

Minimum of 20 years of progressive mechanical maintenance experience in heavy industry.

At least 15 years of experience within a cement manufacturing plant.

Minimum of 6 years in a senior maintenance leadership position.
-
Experience working in an integrated cement plant of similar scale.
-
Extensive knowledge of kiln systems, mills, crushers, material handling systems, packing plants, and utility equipment.

Proven experience managing major shutdowns, maintenance budgets, contractor performance, and multidisciplinary teams.

Strong working knowledge of CMMS/SAP systems.

Expertise in equipment drawings, maintenance planning, predictive maintenance, condition monitoring, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).

Strong understanding of engineering standards, rotating equipment, precision maintenance, hydraulics, pneumatics, lubrication systems, welding, fabrication, machining, non-destructive testing (NDT), FMEA, equipment criticality, and commissioning.

Professional proficiency in English.

Knowledge of Kiswahili is an added advantage.
