Zonal Relationship Manager Mining, Oil & Gas – Medium & Small Enterprises at CRDB Bank is a permanent banking and relationship management role based at the Tanzania Head Office within the Department of Retail Banking. Reporting to the Senior Manager: Mining Oil & Gas, the role focuses on managing and expanding the bank’s SME portfolio within the mining, oil, and gas sectors by supporting medium and small enterprises operating across upstream, midstream, downstream, and related value chain activities.

The position is responsible for driving customer acquisition, portfolio growth, relationship management, credit analysis, and business development within the Mining, Oil & Gas ecosystem. The successful candidate will work closely with zonal teams and industry stakeholders to deliver tailored banking solutions that support customer growth, profitability, and long-term sustainability.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing the full relationship lifecycle including acquisition, onboarding, renewals, retention, and portfolio growth
• Growing assets and liabilities within the Mining, Oil & Gas SME portfolio
• Supporting assigned zones with technical and sector expertise in growing mining portfolios
• Identifying and developing pipelines for profitable SME customers in mining, oil, and gas sectors
• Marketing banking products and cross-selling opportunities across the sector value chain
• Conducting negotiations and business discussions with key stakeholders
• Preparing business proposals, credit appraisals, risk assessments, and management reports
• Conducting detailed financial analysis and credit assessments for mining and oil & gas companies
• Analysing customer business strategies, industry outlooks, and macroeconomic trends
• Monitoring portfolio quality and maintaining strong asset performance
• Developing sustainable and cost-effective financing structures
• Coordinating with internal departments including branches, operations, trade finance, treasury, credit, and risk teams
• Ensuring seamless customer service delivery and complaint resolution
• Supporting growth of the bank’s ecosystem within Mining, Oil & Gas sectors
• Linking artisanal and small-scale mining projects with government institutions, contractors, financiers, suppliers, and export credit agencies

Requirements include:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining, Geoscience, Finance, Accounting, Banking, Economics, or related field
• Background or experience in Mining, Oil & Gas industry is mandatory
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in banking, mining, oil & gas, insurance, investment banking, or related sectors
• Strong analytical and financial assessment skills
• Ability to structure and recommend financing solutions
• Good understanding of:

  • Loan markets
  • Credit processes
  • Loan restructuring
  • Collections management
  • Delinquent loan recovery strategies

• Knowledge of sector challenges, market trends, and legal documentation
• Strong communication, networking, negotiation, and presentation skills
• Excellent organizational, problem-solving, decision-making, and financial management skills
