Technical Assistant – Agribusiness Tanzania
Job Description
Kilimo Trust is a regional non-profit organization dedicated to making agribusiness a transformative and rewarding venture for women, men, and youth across Eastern Africa. Through partnerships with governments, development agencies, private sector actors, and farming communities, the organization works to enhance agricultural productivity, market access, value addition, and economic empowerment across the region.
As part of the Regional East Africa Women and Youth Economic Empowerment in Fisheries (WYEEFIMA) Project, Kilimo Trust is seeking a qualified and motivated Technical Assistant – Agribusiness to support project implementation in Tanzania. Based in Dodoma, the successful candidate will contribute to strengthening fisheries value chains, promoting post-harvest handling technologies, supporting stakeholder engagement, and enhancing economic opportunities for women and youth involved in fisheries-related enterprises.
Responsibilities:
- Support and strengthen linkages between District Officials, Kilimo Trust, and other project stakeholders
- Support Resident Associates, Trainers of Trainers (ToTs), and project participants in implementing project activities and accessing markets
- Conduct project activities in accordance with approved work plans and implementation schedules
- Assist in the preparation, production, and dissemination of training materials
- Support coordination of training logistics and participant engagement activities
- Build the capacity of ToTs and fish value chain actors in post-harvest handling (PHH) techniques
- Facilitate linkages between traders, PHH technology suppliers, and financial service providers
- Provide logistical support for the distribution of PHH technologies and project materials
- Communicate regularly with project participants regarding training schedules and follow-up activities
- Coordinate activities with trainers, district officials, and other stakeholders
- Prepare and submit monthly technical and progress reports
- Conduct routine field monitoring and support project evaluation activities
- Collect, verify, and enter participant data, feedback, and project performance information
- Support the establishment and management of business organizations and producer groups
- Manage accurate project data capture, analysis, and reporting processes
- Prepare monthly regional implementation reports
- Ensure compliance with Kilimo Trust financial controls and operational procedures
- Support proper documentation and filing of project records
- Contribute to the preparation of case studies, success stories, lessons learned, press releases, and learning materials
- Supervise Resident Associates and Village Agents
- Contribute to fundraising and resource mobilization initiatives
Qualification Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Agribusiness, Rural Development, Economics, Trade Facilitation, or a related field
- Additional training or experience in project coordination is an added advantage
- Minimum of two years of experience supporting agricultural, fisheries, or rural development projects
- Experience in data collection, project monitoring, report writing, and logistics coordination
- Experience facilitating training programs, mobilizing small traders, and supporting group formation initiatives
- Knowledge and experience in value chain development and women and youth empowerment programs
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent writing, editing, formatting, negotiation, and research skills
- Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Ability to communicate effectively in Kiswahili is an added advantage
