Senior Product Specialist
Job Description
NMB Bank Plc is seeking a Senior Product Specialist to join its team in Dar es Salaam. The successful candidate will lead the implementation, enhancement, and lifecycle management of Core Banking System (CBS) products by working closely with business units, technology teams, and software vendors. This role is ideal for an experienced banking technology professional with strong technical expertise, product management experience, and a solid understanding of core banking platforms.
The position plays a critical role in translating business requirements into technical solutions, overseeing product implementation, coordinating user acceptance testing (UAT), identifying system improvements, and ensuring that Core Banking System products continue to meet business and customer needs.
Responsibilities
- Gather Core Banking System product requirements from business units and translate them into technical specifications and solutions.
- Work closely with business stakeholders to define product roadmaps, priorities, and feature delivery.
- Provide product knowledge, guidance, and mentorship to analysts and specialists.
- Conduct business analysis and prepare requirements documentation for new products and system enhancements.
- Ensure all stakeholders complete product readiness activities before implementation.
- Oversee the design, configuration, and deployment of product-related changes within the Core Banking System.
- Ensure clear end-to-end understanding of system functionality and expected behavior.
- Define User Acceptance Testing (UAT) scenarios and ensure testing and sign-off are completed before deployment.
- Manage Core Banking System products throughout their lifecycle, including operational changes and enhancements.
- Conduct periodic reviews of banking products and services to improve system performance and functionality.
- Maintain records of system and product changes for audit and compliance purposes.
- Monitor system issues and ensure timely resolution.
- Identify underutilized system capabilities and recommend new products or services.
- Act as the link between business teams and application development teams to ensure technology solutions support business requirements.
- Lead workflow improvement initiatives using Core Banking applications.
- Identify system gaps and develop practical improvement plans.
- Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive banking products.
- Lead product training initiatives and develop supporting documentation, user guides, and e-learning materials.
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Relevant professional certifications, including ITIL, are an added advantage.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in Core Banking product analysis, configuration, or management within medium or large organizations.
- Financial services experience in product management, IT development, project management, or relationship management.
- Strong knowledge of Core Banking Systems and banking product platforms.
- Experience with SQL querying and database development.
- Practical experience with programming languages such as Java, Python, or C.
- Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively across teams.
