Save the Children International is a global humanitarian and development organization focused on improving the lives of children through programs in health, education, protection, and emergency response. The Tanzania Country Office is currently undergoing a strategic transformation to shift from direct program implementation to a partner-led operating model, emphasizing local capacity strengthening and sustainable impact systems.
The Senior Change Manager – Localization Transition role is a high-level leadership position responsible for driving and coordinating this organizational transformation. The role ensures that the transition to a partner-led model is effectively planned, implemented, and embedded across all levels of the organization while maintaining operational continuity, stakeholder alignment, and risk control.
Responsibilities
The Senior Change Manager is responsible for leading the end-to-end organizational transformation process, ensuring smooth execution of the localization transition strategy. The role involves managing change across structures, systems, people, and partnerships while safeguarding program continuity and stakeholder trust.
- Work closely with the Country Director and Senior Leadership Team to plan, sequence, and execute the transition roadmap
- Ensure alignment and engagement of staff, implementing partners, donors, and government stakeholders throughout the transition process
- Lead organizational change management across structure, culture, capabilities, and operational ways of working
- Identify, assess, and mitigate risks related to delivery continuity, reputation, staffing transitions, and partner capacity
- Design and embed sustainable systems that support long-term localization and organizational effectiveness
- Monitor progress of transition milestones and ensure timely delivery of key transformation objectives
- Facilitate communication and change readiness across all levels of the organization
- Support capacity strengthening of partners to ensure successful transfer of responsibilities
- Provide strategic guidance on managing resistance and ensuring stakeholder buy-in
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, donor requirements, and safeguarding standards
Qualification
Candidates applying for this role should possess strong experience in organizational transformation, change management, and strategic leadership, preferably within the humanitarian or development sector. The ideal candidate should demonstrate the ability to manage complex stakeholder environments and lead large-scale institutional change.
- Proven leadership experience in organizational transformation or change management
- Strong background in strategic planning and execution
- Experience managing multi-stakeholder environments including staff, donors, government, and implementing partners
- Strong skills in risk management and mitigation
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to manage complex, high-risk, and high-visibility transitions
- Experience in humanitarian or development organizations will be an added advantage
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to lead cultural and structural organizational change
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Organizational Development, International Development, or related field preferred
