Full Job Description

Diamond Trust Bank is inviting applications from qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Security Documentation Officer based in Dar es Salaam. The bank is seeking a competent legal professional capable of managing securities and lending documentation processes while supporting effective credit risk control and compliance within the institution.

The Security Documentation Officer will be responsible for handling all securities and legal documentation related to lending operations, supporting post-approval credit processes, and ensuring efficient coordination with external lawyers, registries, Credit, and business departments. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring proper perfection, validity, enforceability, and management of securities documentation within the bank.

Responsibilities

  • Review and vet all corporate facilities agreements after approval from business teams
  • Review and prepare corporate securities documentation for lending purposes
  • Issue clear and quality instructions to external lawyers for perfection of securities
  • Manage relationships with law firms and external lawyers involved in securities perfection
  • Maintain securities data through defined systems and processes
  • Prepare reliable MIS reports and share reports with business teams and Credit departments
  • Provide legal opinions and advisory support to Credit departments within the bank
  • Review securities and documentation regularly to confirm validity and enforceability
  • Prepare offer letters and other credit-related facility letters
  • Follow up with business teams on expired securities, renewals of tenure, land rents, and facility disbursement matters
  • Ensure proper documentation compliance with regulatory and internal requirements
  • Support efficient turnaround times in documentation and security perfection processes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree
  • Valid Practicing License
  • LLM or MBA qualification is an added advantage
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience, including at least 2 years post-admission and 1 year in Credit-Legal documentation
  • Strong understanding of lending securities and legal documentation processes
  • Good knowledge of banking and credit operations
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Effective leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Positive attitude and strong problem-solving abilities
  • Self-motivation and ability to work under pressure
  • Good organizational and reporting skills
