Job Description

The Relationship Manager is responsible for driving business growth by developing and managing customer relationships, identifying financing opportunities, and expanding the Bank’s customer portfolio. The role focuses on achieving business targets, maintaining high-quality financing portfolios, ensuring compliance with Sharia principles and banking regulations, and delivering exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities
- Identify and pursue new financing opportunities and other banking business through customer engagement and negotiations
- Prioritize workload to ensure timely feedback and efficient service delivery to customers
- Analyze customers’ creditworthiness and recommend appropriate financing limits
- Evaluate actual and potential profitability of customers within the assigned portfolio
- Grow and manage the assigned customer portfolio in line with the Bank’s strategic objectives
- Leverage existing customer relationships to generate referrals and acquire new clients
- Recruit new customers for asset-backed financing facilities and other banking products
- Conduct regular customer visits to strengthen relationships and identify business opportunities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer portfolio information
- Present and defend financing proposals during departmental meetings
- Achieve assigned revenue, business growth, and portfolio performance targets
- Improve portfolio monitoring, follow-up, and control mechanisms
- Identify negative performance variances and implement corrective actions promptly
- Minimize portfolio risk by ensuring full compliance with Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) procedures
- Maintain the Non-Performing Financing (NPF) ratio within the Bank’s prescribed standards
- Liaise with the Financing Management Department to ensure customer financing requirements are effectively addressed
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum of five years of work experience in the banking industry
- Good understanding of banking products, financing, and banking transactions
- Knowledge of credit risk assessment and profitability analysis
- Understanding of Sharia-compliant banking products and principles
- Good knowledge of the Tanzanian economy and financial sector
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent sales, marketing, and networking abilities
- Strong customer service orientation
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Good analytical, negotiation, and relationship management skills

- Full-time position based in Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar
- Reports to the Head of Business
