Job Description
The Zanzibar Revenue Authority (ZRA) is a government institution established under the Zanzibar Revenue Authority Act No. 11 of 2022, with headquarters located in Mazizini, Zanzibar. The Authority is responsible for collecting government revenue from domestic sources efficiently and in accordance with the law. To strengthen its revenue collection functions and improve service delivery to taxpayers, ZRA is inviting qualified Zanzibari citizens to apply for temporary employment opportunities at its Unguja and Pemba offices for a period of twelve months.
The Records Management Officer position offers an opportunity for qualified professionals to support the Authority’s records and archives management functions. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring proper record keeping, file management, electronic records administration, and compliance with records management standards to support efficient organizational operations.
Responsibilities
- Manage the receipt, registration, classification, storage, and issuance of ZRA records according to established procedures.
- Implement and manage file classification systems to facilitate quick retrieval of information.
- Monitor the movement of files across departments and units.
- Assist in preparing records retention and disposal schedules in accordance with laws and guidelines.
- Supervise the secure storage of vital, confidential, and permanent records.
- Assist in establishing and managing electronic records management systems.
- Participate in auditing and improving records management systems.
- Conduct periodic inspections of files to ensure compliance with records management standards.
- Coordinate activities at the Records Centre and ensure easy access to documents.
- Prepare records management statistics, reports, and data.
- Assist in implementing records management policies and guidelines.
- Perform other professional duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualification Required
- Must be a Zanzibari citizen.
- Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Records and Archives Management, Information Management Science, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Must be 30 years of age or younger.
- Strong computer skills.
- Understanding of Electronic Records Management Systems (ERMS), digital archiving, and archives management systems.
- Ability to analyze records management and archiving issues.
- Honest, ethical, and capable of maintaining office confidentiality.
