The National Housing Corporation (NHC) is a public institution mandated to develop and facilitate the provision of quality housing and commercial buildings across Tanzania. Established under Act No. 45 of 1962 and reconstituted under Act No. 2 of 1990, the Corporation operates on commercial principles while continuing to fulfill its mandate of addressing urban housing challenges. In line with its vision of becoming a leading real estate development and management firm in Africa, NHC is seeking to recruit qualified and experienced Tanzanians for the position of Quantity Surveyor II.

The Quantity Surveyor II will be responsible for supporting construction and infrastructure projects through effective cost management, contract administration, and project evaluation. The officer will ensure that projects are implemented within approved budgets while maintaining quality and efficiency standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Calculating the quantity and quality of materials required for projects, including estimating material and labour costs and determining project completion timelines.
• Participating in the preparation of contracts, including details regarding quantities of required materials.
• Carrying out ongoing cost analysis for maintenance and repair works.
• Conducting feasibility studies based on client requests and project requirements.
• Analyzing completed works and facilitating payment arrangements to contractors.
• Conducting site visits, assessments, and projections for future projects and maintenance works.
• Performing any other related duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualification and Experience

Applicants must possess:

• A Bachelor Degree in Quantity Survey, Building Economics, Construction Management, Building Survey, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
• Registration with the Architects and Quantity Surveyors Registration Board (AQRB) as a Graduate Quantity Surveyor.
• A minimum of three (3) years of relevant working experience in quantity surveying, construction cost management, or related fields.

Salary Scale

The successful candidate will be appointed under Salary Scale TC 4.
