Job Description

NBC Tanzania is seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist to lead the bank’s Quality Assurance (QA) strategy, governance framework, and testing coordination across technology projects. The successful candidate will ensure consistent application of structured end-to-end testing practices, enabling the delivery of secure, reliable, compliant, and high-quality technology solutions that support core banking systems, digital platforms, and enterprise integrations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of the bank’s Quality Assurance strategy, governance framework, and testing coordination across all projects
  • Establish, implement, and enforce QA standards, methodologies, testing frameworks, and best practices
  • Provide independent quality assurance oversight to ensure compliance with internal policies, audit requirements, and regulatory standards
  • Ensure complete traceability, documentation, and audit-ready evidence for all testing activities
  • Lead test planning, test case design, scripting, execution, and reporting across System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), performance testing, and load testing
  • Oversee end-to-end testing to ensure seamless integration between systems, applications, interfaces, and external platforms
  • Ensure execution of both functional and non-functional testing, including performance, security, scalability, and reliability validation
  • Design and oversee load, stress, and performance testing activities to validate system resilience under peak operating conditions
  • Drive early defect detection strategies through shift-left testing approaches
  • Oversee defect identification, logging, tracking, root cause analysis, resolution, and retesting throughout the software development lifecycle
  • Monitor defect trends and implement corrective actions to improve software quality and reduce production issues
  • Ensure all technology solutions are fully tested, validated, and fit for business use before User Acceptance Testing and deployment
  • Act as a key quality control function to minimize production instability and reduce post-deployment defects
  • Coordinate testing activities across technology, business, governance, and project teams
  • Ensure complete visibility of testing activities across functional and non-functional testing domains
  • Support business users during UAT planning, execution, and validation activities
  • Mentor Quality Assurance Analysts and strengthen team capabilities in advanced testing methodologies and best practices
  • Promote test automation, continuous improvement initiatives, and adoption of modern quality engineering practices

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Minimum of five (5) to eight (8) years of experience in software quality assurance and application testing, preferably within banking or financial services
  • Proven experience leading QA governance, quality frameworks, and testing strategies
  • Strong experience coordinating System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
  • Experience conducting performance, load, and stress testing
  • ISTQB Advanced Certification or an equivalent professional certification is highly desirable
  • Strong knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC)
  • Expertise in functional testing, system integration testing, and non-functional testing, including performance, security, and reliability testing
  • Proficiency with QA methodologies, testing frameworks, and tools such as JIRA, Azure DevOps, and HP ALM
  • Understanding of test automation concepts, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines
  • Knowledge of IT governance, banking regulations, compliance requirements, and audit standards
  • Strong analytical skills, including defect analysis, troubleshooting, and root cause identification
  • Proven leadership and stakeholder management skills with the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams
  • Excellent communication, reporting, documentation, and presentation skills
  • Strong abstract reasoning, planning, and organizational abilities
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer excellence, service delivery, innovation, and continuous improvement
