Project Officer Job Vacancy at Aga Khan Foundation (Zanzibar)

Aga Khan Foundation is seeking a qualified Project Officer to support the implementation of the SHINE CBC Zanzibar Project in Pemba, Zanzibar. This role focuses on strengthening the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) in early childhood education by improving teacher training, instructional quality, and community engagement.

The successful candidate will coordinate project activities, support teacher training programs, conduct monitoring visits, and work closely with schools, government institutions, and community stakeholders. The role requires strong coordination skills, education sector experience, and the ability to manage field-based project implementation effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate project activities, trainings, meetings, and field implementation processes.
  • Facilitate pre-primary teachers’ pre-service diploma training programs.
  • Develop and deliver in-service training programs for pre-primary teachers.
  • Work closely with schools, teachers, communities, and government education partners.
  • Conduct monitoring and evaluation visits and prepare progress reports.
  • Support community engagement and stakeholder coordination activities.
  • Ensure proper documentation and timely execution of project activities.
  • Maintain effective communication with partners and project stakeholders.
  • Support data collection, reporting, and program tracking systems.
  • Contribute to ensuring project quality and adherence to implementation plans.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Early Childhood Development, Community Development, Social Sciences, Project Management, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in project implementation, preferably in education or NGO settings.
  • Strong understanding of Zanzibar’s education system and CBC reforms is an added advantage.
  • Experience working with schools, communities, and government institutions.
  • Knowledge of monitoring, evaluation, and reporting systems.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent report writing skills in both English and Kiswahili.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Email).
  • Ability to travel within Zanzibar when required.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Results-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Commitment to child rights, inclusion, gender equality, equity, and safeguarding principles.
