Product Penetration Specialist
Job Description
Vodacom Tanzania Plc is looking for a Product Penetration Specialist to drive the growth and adoption of M-Pesa Business across the assigned region. The role focuses on expanding the M-Pesa customer base, strengthening relationships with agents, merchants, and distribution partners, and implementing regional commercial strategies that increase mobile money usage, revenue, and market share.
This position is ideal for a results-oriented professional with strong experience in mobile financial services, sales, and distribution. The successful candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders and business partners to execute market initiatives, monitor regional performance, and respond effectively to changing market conditions.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement regional M-Pesa commercial plans aligned with the annual M-Pesa strategy.
- Increase the reach and effectiveness of the M-Pesa distribution network.
- Drive growth in M-Pesa customers, transactions, and regional revenue.
- Coordinate sales and distribution activities involving wakalas, super agents, and merchants.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with M-Pesa partners across the region.
- Optimize distribution partners’ return on investment (ROI) while ensuring sustainable business performance.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret regional performance data to support decision-making.
- Prepare weekly performance reports for management meetings.
- Develop and execute quarterly and ad hoc tactical plans to sustain M-Pesa growth.
- Monitor market trends, customer behavior, and competitor activities to support business growth.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in a business-related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in mobile money on-ground sales, including at least 2 years in a senior role.
- Extensive knowledge of Mobile Financial Services and the mobile money value chain.
- Strong understanding of distribution models and route-to-market strategies.
- Experience in mobile money product penetration and field execution.
- Strong commercial analysis and reporting skills.
- Ability to manage outsourced business partners effectively.
- Ability to anticipate customer needs, competitor activities, and market trends.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
- Solid sales and distribution experience, preferably in FMCG or direct marketing.
- Excellent planning, coordination, and execution skills.
