Job Description

Hannah Bennie School (HBS) was established to provide children in Kigamboni with access to high-quality English-medium education close to home. Built on a commitment to academic excellence and community service, the school continues to create a nurturing environment where learners can develop the knowledge, skills, and character needed to succeed in a rapidly changing world.

To strengthen its academic team, HBS is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Science Teacher who is passionate about inspiring curiosity, critical thinking, and a love of scientific discovery among young learners. The successful candidate will contribute to delivering engaging and effective science education while supporting the overall development of students.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality Science lessons aligned with the Tanzania Institute of Education (TIE) primary curriculum
  • Develop schemes of work, lesson plans, and assessment tools approved by the academic office
  • Assess student progress through continuous assessments, tests, and end-of-term examinations
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, academic performance, and behaviour
  • Support student welfare, discipline, and participation in co-curricular activities
  • Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and colleagues regarding student progress and development
  • Participate in professional development activities and uphold the Teachers’ Service Commission (TSC) Code of Conduct

Qualification Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education (B.Ed.) or a Degree in Science with a recognized teaching qualification
  • Diploma in Education is acceptable for primary school teaching
  • Registered with, or eligible for registration with, the Teachers’ Service Commission (TSC) of Tanzania
  • At least two years of teaching experience in a reputable school is preferred
  • Strong command of both English and Swahili languages
  • Basic to intermediate computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications and digital teaching tools
  • Strong classroom management, communication, and learner engagement skills
