Logistics and Inventory Officer
Tabono Consult Ltd, on behalf of its client, is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Logistics and Inventory Officer to be based at Kilimanjaro International Airport. The role serves as an independent control function separate from the sales team, with primary responsibility for ensuring inventory accuracy, maintaining stock integrity, and preventing losses, discrepancies, errors, or shrinkage throughout the supply chain process.
The successful candidate will oversee shipment receiving activities, inventory verification, stock control, documentation management, and coordination with customs authorities and operational stakeholders. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent record-keeping skills, and the ability to maintain transparency and accountability in all inventory-related activities.
Responsibilities
- Receive and verify all incoming shipments at Kilimanjaro International Airport.
- Act as the primary on-site contact for shipment arrival, clearance, and logistics-related matters.
- Maintain productive working relationships with customs officials and airport stakeholders.
- Support the resolution of operational challenges, including shipment delays, inspections, missing documentation, and clearance issues.
- Physically inspect incoming goods against packing lists, invoices, and shipping documentation.
- Verify quantities, product references, specifications, and physical condition of received items.
- Immediately report discrepancies such as shortages, damages, excess items, or incorrect deliveries.
- Conduct regular physical stock counts and monthly inventory audits.
- Investigate inventory variances and prepare detailed discrepancy reports independently from the sales team.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and organized inventory records.
- Monitor stock handling processes to minimize losses, damages, errors, and shrinkage.
- Support the Loss Prevention Manager in implementing and maintaining inventory control procedures.
- Ensure complete transparency and traceability of all stock movements.
- Maintain proper documentation for shipments, inventory inspections, stock counts, and reconciliation activities.
- Assist in implementing inventory management best practices and operational controls.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and inventory management procedures.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Warehouse Management, or a related field.
- Experience in logistics, inventory control, warehouse operations, or stock management is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of inventory management principles and stock control procedures.
- Familiarity with shipment receiving and documentation processes.
- Understanding of loss prevention and inventory reconciliation practices.
- Experience working with inventory records and stock monitoring systems is desirable.
- Knowledge of customs clearance procedures and airport logistics operations is an advantage.
