VSO (Voluntary Service Overseas) is an international development organization focused on tackling poverty and inequality through the power of volunteering. The organization works by deploying skilled professionals and volunteers to support communities, strengthen local capacity, and promote sustainable development outcomes. As part of its youth empowerment initiatives in Tanzania, VSO is seeking to recruit a qualified candidate for the position of Life Skills Adviser – National Volunteer based in Dar es Salaam.
The Life Skills Adviser will be responsible for training and mentoring young people to improve their labor market awareness, employability skills, and confidence to engage in blue economy value chains. The role is focused on empowering youth to develop practical skills, explore economic opportunities, and support youth-led entrepreneurship initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Training youth to improve labor market awareness and understanding of employment opportunities.
- Developing and delivering structured employability skills training programmes for young people.
- Building youth confidence and capacity to engage in blue economy value chains.
- Providing mentorship and guidance to youth-led start-ups and small enterprises.
- Supporting youth in developing entrepreneurial and livelihood skills that enhance economic participation.
- Contributing to programme activities aimed at reducing unemployment and promoting youth empowerment.
Qualification and Experience
Applicants must possess:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Education, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Prior experience in a similar role involving youth development, training, or community engagement.
- Experience working with youth-led start-ups or small enterprises will be an added advantage.
- Strong facilitation, mentoring, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with young people in diverse community settings.
