The Tanzania Atomic Energy Commission (TAEC) is a government institution established under the Atomic Energy Act No. 7 of 2003 (Cap. 188). It is mandated to regulate the safe use of atomic energy and nuclear technology in Tanzania, ensuring protection of workers, patients, the public, and the environment from harmful effects of ionizing and non-ionizing radiation. The Commission also ensures compliance with national and international radiation safety standards in all applications involving nuclear technology.
In addition to its regulatory functions, TAEC promotes the peaceful application of nuclear science and technology to support national development in areas such as health, agriculture, industry, and research. The Commission is inviting applications from suitably qualified, self-motivated, and hardworking Tanzanians to apply for volunteering opportunities in various technical fields aimed at strengthening operational capacity and service delivery.
The ICT Officer II will support the Commission in maintaining and improving ICT systems to ensure efficient and reliable operations across departments. The role involves providing technical support, maintaining ICT infrastructure, and assisting in the implementation of digital solutions that enhance communication, data management, and overall organizational performance.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Installing, configuring, and maintaining computer hardware, software, and network systems
- Providing first-line technical support for ICT-related issues across departments
- Troubleshooting system and network problems to ensure minimal downtime
- Assisting in the development and maintenance of internal systems and databases
- Supporting data backup, recovery procedures, and system security measures
- Assisting in ICT policy implementation and system upgrades
Qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related field from a recognized institution
- Strong computer literacy and practical knowledge of ICT systems, hardware, and networking
- Good communication and writing skills for technical documentation and reporting
- Ability to diagnose and resolve basic ICT technical problems effectively
General Conditions include:
- Applicants must be Tanzanian citizens aged between 18 and 35 years
- Must submit a signed handwritten application letter in English
- Must attach an updated CV with reliable contact details and three referees (one academic referee required)
- Must provide certified copies of academic certificates, transcripts (where applicable), Form IV and VI certificates, and National ID/NIDA
- Testimonials, result slips, and partial transcripts are not accepted
- Foreign qualifications must be verified by TCU, NACTE, or NECTA
- Must attach a recent passport-size photograph and a letter of residence from Village/Street Executive Officer
- Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interviews at zonal centers
- Volunteers will receive allowances for transport and lunch, not salaries
- Volunteering does not guarantee future employment
