Job Description

Turkys Mifuko is a manufacturing company based in Zanzibar, specializing in the production of quality packaging solutions. The Head of Inventory is responsible for leading the entire inventory management function, overseeing stock movement from raw material receipt to finished goods dispatch. The role focuses on maintaining accurate inventory records, strengthening internal controls, ensuring efficient warehouse operations, preventing production disruptions, and leading inventory teams to achieve operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all inventory categories, including raw materials, spares and consumables, work-in-progress, and finished goods
  • Enforce stock receiving, issuing, and stock counting procedures across all warehouses
  • Conduct regular physical stock counts and reconcile inventory with system records
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure real-time visibility of stock levels
  • Monitor minimum stock levels and reorder points to prevent production interruptions
  • Raise purchase requisitions based on inventory levels and production requirements
  • Coordinate with the General Manager (GM) and Regional Director (RD) on raw material purchasing approvals
  • Ensure all received goods are properly documented, inspected, and matched against purchase orders
  • Support supplier shortlisting and due diligence activities where required
  • Oversee the dispatch function to ensure timely and accurate order fulfilment
  • Ensure finished goods are properly documented and dispatched against confirmed customer orders
  • Coordinate with the sales team regarding delivery schedules and warehouse stock availability
  • Implement segregation of duties throughout the requisition, receiving, and inventory issuance processes
  • Ensure independent verification throughout the purchase-to-pay process to strengthen internal controls
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly inventory reports, including stock movement, variance analysis, and inventory ageing reports
  • Report inventory risks, slow-moving stock, and overall inventory performance to the General Manager
  • Supervise and develop Raw Materials, Spares & Consumables, Finished Goods, and Dispatch Supervisors
  • Establish Key Result Areas (KRAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for inventory staff
  • Conduct regular staff performance reviews and coaching sessions
  • Promote a culture of accountability, operational discipline, and inventory accuracy across the department

Qualifications Required

  • Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Minimum of five years of experience in inventory or warehouse management
  • At least two years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven experience managing multiple inventory categories, including raw materials, spare parts, work-in-progress, and finished goods
  • Practical experience with inventory control systems and physical stock counting procedures
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems
  • Experience implementing and working within Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and approval frameworks
  • Knowledge of Tanzanian customs procedures and import documentation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational and planning abilities
  • High level of integrity and accountability
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities
