The bank is seeking a Customer Service Advisor – Intern to join its Dar es Salaam operations. This internship offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in building a career in banking by gaining hands-on experience in branch operations, customer service, cash handling, ATM management, and compliance with banking procedures and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities:
- Process cash withdrawals and cheque encashment transactions accurately
- Process cash and cheque deposits, credits, and related banking transactions
- Support the purchase and sale of foreign currencies in accordance with bank procedures
- Respond to customer inquiries and provide assistance at the banking counter
- Balance cash holdings in assigned tills and assist colleagues with cash balancing activities
- Prepare and organize transaction vouchers for onward processing
- Promote and cross-sell bank products and services to customers
- Refer customers to appropriate banking specialists for additional services
- Provide customer service and enquiry support as required
- Assist in resolving customer complaints and service-related issues promptly
- Support ATM card printing and customer card-related services
- Participate in cash sorting, repatriation, and vault operations
- Monitor strong room cash levels to ensure compliance with operational limits
- Support branch cash ordering and cash inventory management processes
- Escalate cash-related issues to branch operations management in accordance with procedures
- Ensure proper packaging and handling of cash by frontline staff
- Participate in daily branch cash reconciliation activities
- Support teller and vault operations as a co-custodian when required
- Restock ATM cash and ensure availability of clean and usable notes
- Reconcile ATM cash balances and monitor ATM performance
- Report ATM faults and coordinate maintenance activities when required
- Conduct ATM operational checks and escalate issues promptly
- Provide backup support for branch custodial responsibilities
- Share knowledge and best practices with colleagues
- Comply with all regulatory requirements, operational risk frameworks, policies, and internal procedures
- Report risk incidents and support initiatives aimed at strengthening operational controls
- Complete all mandatory training and compliance requirements within prescribed timelines
Qualification Required:
- Strong numerical and cash-handling skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Good leadership and teamwork abilities
- Knowledge of banking operations and cash management processes is an added advantage
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Computer literacy, including keyboard and basic PC skills
- Ability to learn banking systems and operational procedures quickly
- Good problem-solving and communication skills
- High level of personal integrity, honesty, and professionalism
- Understanding of risk management and compliance principles is desirable
- Higher Certificates or Advanced National (Vocational) Certificates are preferred
