Job Description

This role is a development and private sector engagement position focused on improving youth employment outcomes in Morogoro through vocational training, entrepreneurship support, and market linkage development. The coordinator works across training providers, MSMEs, and private sector actors to ensure youth gain practical skills and access real economic opportunities.

It sits at the intersection of project management, enterprise development, and stakeholder coordination. The role is highly implementation-focused, requiring strong field engagement, program design input, and coordination with multiple partners under Swisscontact’s youth skills development framework.

Responsibilities

  • Lead youth upskilling and enterprise development programmes under project outcomes, including planning and budgeting
  • Support implementation of vocational skills development activities in Morogoro
  • Design and refine youth enterprise support models based on evidence and project learning
  • Facilitate private sector engagement and build partnerships with companies and MSMEs
  • Identify barriers affecting youth-led business growth and co-develop solutions with technical teams
  • Strengthen linkages between training providers, markets, and financial service providers
  • Identify and onboard training providers and business development service organizations
  • Manage procurement, contracting, and performance monitoring of training providers
  • Ensure timely reporting, quality assurance, and compliance by implementing partners
  • Conduct joint monitoring visits and track programme performance indicators
  • Develop monitoring tools and support MEL (Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning) processes
  • Promote employment and self-employment pathways for youth beneficiaries
  • Support integration of GESI (Gender Equality and Social Inclusion) and climate considerations
  • Contribute to donor reports, workplans, and project budgets
  • Facilitate learning, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement within the project

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Entrepreneurship, Community Development, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in business development support, youth development, enterprise development, or private sector engagement
  • Experience working with MSMEs, training providers, or vocational education systems
  • Strong ability to build partnerships with private sector actors and facilitate market linkages
  • Experience in project coordination, training facilitation, and stakeholder management
  • Practical knowledge of monitoring and evaluation processes (MEL experience is an advantage)
  • Experience contributing to budgets, workplans, and donor/government reporting
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple partners and work independently under pressure
  • Knowledge of youth development programming and inclusion principles (GESI, climate awareness)
  • Proficiency in English and Kiswahili
