Job Description

The World Food Programme (WFP) is seeking qualified and experienced professionals to fill the position of Budget and Programming Associate, G6 FT, based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The successful candidate will provide specialized support in budget planning, financial monitoring, and analysis of project performance to ensure the efficient and optimal use of financial resources. Working closely with various stakeholders, the Budget and Programming Associate will play a vital role in supporting WFP’s operational effectiveness, resource management, and strategic decision-making processes.

Responsibilities

  • Review budget plans and monitor project financial performance in compliance with WFP financial policies and procedures.
  • Analyze fund and grant balances, identify surpluses or deficits, and recommend corrective measures.
  • Support pipeline management to prevent disruptions and maximize operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to improving internal processes, systems, and budget management tools.
  • Enter project budget plans and revisions into corporate systems accurately and on time.
  • Review, compile, and analyze data and prepare periodic and ad hoc reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide inputs to the Country Office Resource Management Committee (RMC) on resource prioritization and budget implementation.
  • Support the activation, deactivation, and management of Global Commodity Management Facility (GCMF) supply lines when required.
  • Maintain communication with stakeholders regarding project funds management and related processes.
  • Provide guidance and support to other staff members on budget planning and fund management.
  • Follow emergency preparedness practices to ensure timely response during crises.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Completion of secondary school education.
  • Post-secondary certificate in a related functional area.
  • Minimum of six years of progressively responsible work experience in a related field, including general administrative work.
  • Experience assisting in the monitoring of budgets, resource plans, pipelines, or supply chains.
  • Experience handling budget and allotment-related issues within financial systems.
  • Demonstrated understanding of financial and information systems that support operational implementation.
  • Experience conducting medium-complexity data analysis and presenting findings to different audiences.
  • Experience preparing, managing, and reporting on operational budgets.
  • Ability to work with large datasets and present information in an easy-to-understand format.
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English and Swahili.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
