A leading agribusiness company in Morogoro, Tanzania, is seeking a qualified and experienced professional to join its team as a BMS Officer. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing BMS fertilizer application activities, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards, optimizing resource utilization, and maintaining strong relationships with growers and other stakeholders. Responsibilities
- Oversee operations and production planning to ensure efficiency, quality, and cost-effective use of resources.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and application of BMS fertilizer.
- Prepare weekly work plans and ensure the availability of Purchase Orders for planned activities.
- Coordinate and supervise BMS teams to ensure safe and effective fertilizer application.
- Ensure daily fleet inspections are carried out on allocated equipment.
- Conduct field inspections before fertilizer application activities commence.
- Organize and facilitate meetings with field application teams and farmers through their respective AMCOS.
- Prepare and submit performance reports on BMS application activities.
- Ensure fertilizer products meet required quality standards and quantities for each field.
- Maintain accurate operational and quality records.
- Implement and monitor continuous improvement initiatives to enhance field operations.
- Conduct on-the-job training and identify additional training needs for team members.
- Drive planning and monitoring of daily, weekly, and monthly performance targets.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, stakeholders, and third-party suppliers.
- Monitor team performance against established Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Promote and implement best practices, frameworks, and operational standards in BMS activities.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) standards, and Anti-Bribery and Corruption guidelines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Crop Nutrition, Agronomy, Soil Science, Agriculture, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in sugar cane agronomy.
- At least five years of leadership or management experience in agricultural operations.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing operational strategies.
- Strong experience in managing budgets, people, and resources to achieve business objectives.
- Excellent business acumen and agronomy expertise.
- Ability to anticipate and respond to changes affecting agricultural operations.
- Experience in fertilizer business development or sales will be an added advantage.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good understanding of agricultural business practices and customer relationship management.
