Job Description

The Blending Plant Team Leader position offers an exciting opportunity for experienced agricultural and manufacturing professionals to join a dynamic agribusiness operation in Morogoro, Tanzania. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all storage, mixing, and production activities at the BMS Plant to ensure efficient operations, product quality, safety compliance, and achievement of business objectives.

This role is ideal for individuals with strong leadership skills and expertise in agronomy, fertilizer production, and plant operations. The selected candidate will play a key role in optimizing plant performance, managing resources effectively, and implementing world-class operational practices to maximize productivity and cost efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee operations and production planning to ensure efficiency, quality control, and cost-effective resource utilization.
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of raw materials and finished products.
  • Operate the BMS Plant according to established standards to achieve required production targets.
  • Ensure fertilizer products meet nutrient and organic matter quality standards.
  • Implement preventive maintenance programs for machines and equipment.
  • Manage work quality to minimize rework and improve plant reliability.
  • Ensure teams have adequate tools and equipment to perform their duties effectively.
  • Prepare and submit performance reports based on established Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Maintain accurate records of work orders, production activities, and product analysis.
  • Conduct on-the-job training and identify additional training requirements for employees.
  • Support the preparation and management of the BMS Plant operational budget.
  • Monitor and report on plant and application performance.
  • Drive daily, weekly, and monthly operational planning to achieve business targets.
  • Identify production losses, waste, and operational bottlenecks and implement improvement initiatives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, stakeholders, and third-party suppliers.
  • Monitor team performance and ensure achievement of operational targets.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, occupational health, and safety standards.
  • Promote and implement best practices, policies, and operational frameworks across plant activities.
  • Ensure adherence to company procedures, HSE standards, Competition Law, and Anti-Bribery and Corruption policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Crop Nutrition, Agronomy, Soil Science, Agriculture, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in sugar cane agronomy.
  • At least five years of leadership or management experience in agricultural operations.
  • Proven experience in managing budgets, people, and resources to achieve business objectives.
  • Strong business acumen and agronomy expertise.
  • Ability to interpret data and make informed operational decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in fertilizer business development or sales will be an added advantage.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
