Assistant Chef

Taste Naija Restaurant is seeking a reliable, motivated, and passionate Assistant Chef to support daily kitchen operations and contribute to the preparation of high-quality meals. The role is responsible for assisting with food preparation, cooking, inventory management, kitchen organization, and maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene to ensure an exceptional dining experience for customers.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Head Chef to ensure efficient kitchen operations, timely order fulfillment, and consistent food quality. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced restaurant environment and is eager to develop culinary skills while contributing to menu innovation and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Chef in preparing and cooking menu items according to established recipes and standards.
  • Support the consistent delivery of high-quality dishes and excellent customer experiences.
  • Assist in the efficient execution of daily kitchen orders and meal preparation activities.
  • Participate in the development of new recipes and menu items.
  • Contribute ideas to improve food taste, presentation, and menu variety.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and efficiency within all kitchen work areas.
  • Follow and uphold food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards at all times.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and rotation of food ingredients and supplies.
  • Monitor stock levels of ingredients and kitchen supplies.
  • Assist with ordering and replenishment of kitchen inventory when required.
  • Help minimize food waste and promote efficient use of resources.
  • Support smooth kitchen operations during peak service periods.
  • Assist in coordinating food preparation and delivery schedules to ensure timely service.
  • Work collaboratively with kitchen and service teams to achieve operational goals.
  • Perform assigned kitchen duties independently when required.
  • Support compliance with restaurant policies and operational procedures.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1–2 years of experience working in a restaurant kitchen.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in a commercial food preparation environment.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and hygiene practices.
  • Experience assisting in food preparation and cooking activities.
  • Understanding of kitchen operations and inventory management.
  • Familiarity with Nigerian cuisine will be an added advantage.
  • Ability to prepare and present food to high-quality standards.
