Job Description

Sotta Mining Corporation Limited (SMCL) is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounts Payable Officer to join its finance team in Dar es Salaam. The successful candidate will support the Accounts Payable function by ensuring supplier invoices, vendor payments, reconciliations, and financial records are processed accurately and on time while maintaining compliance with company policies, financial standards, and statutory requirements. In addition, the role provides administrative support to the Dar es Salaam office and contributes to maintaining effective internal controls and audit readiness.

This position offers an excellent opportunity for finance professionals with experience in accounts payable and ERP systems to work within a dynamic mining environment. The successful candidate will collaborate with internal departments, suppliers, and auditors to ensure efficient financial operations, process improvements, and strong compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Process supplier invoices and maintain accurate vendor records.
  • Ensure timely and accurate supplier payments through company financial systems.
  • Perform supplier reconciliations and manage accounts payable ageing.
  • Monitor accruals and maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain supplier master data and ensure compliance with tax and statutory requirements.
  • Support procure-to-pay processes.
  • Assist with office administration, including logistics coordination, document management, filing, office supplies, and visitor support.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounts payable processes and internal controls.
  • Support internal, external, and regulatory audits by providing required documentation.
  • Perform other duties assigned to support the effective execution of the role.

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in Accounts Payable or a similar finance role.
  • Experience working with ERP and financial management systems.
  • Strong knowledge of accounts payable processes and financial controls.
  • Good understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in computerized accounting and ERP systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
