Full Job Description
Kigoma Water Supply and Sanitation Authority (KUWASA) is inviting applications from energetic, qualified, dedicated, motivated, experienced, and performance-driven Tanzanians to fill the position of Accounts Officer Volunteer. KUWASA is an autonomous utility established under the Water Supply and Sanitation Act No. 05 of 2019 and is responsible for the operation and management of clean and safe water supply and sanitation services in Kigoma Municipality under the supervision of its Board of Directors.
The volunteer position is intended to support the Authority’s financial and customer account management operations, including billing, debt management, customer account maintenance, and implementation of credit control procedures. The successful candidate will work closely with finance and customer service teams to ensure proper revenue collection and accurate customer account management.
Responsibilities include:
- Monitoring aging debtors and following up on long overdue debts.
- Preparing daily and monthly cash collection and debtor analysis reports.
- Implementing credit policies and procedures.
- Visiting customers to monitor compliance with credit policies.
- Collaborating with the credit control team to follow up outstanding debts.
- Preparing and maintaining customer records.
- Entering billing data into the system.
- Collecting and entering billing data from meter readers into the database.
- Opening accounts for new customers.
- Updating customer account information in the database.
- Receiving and recording customer adjustment vouchers.
- Participating in analysis of meter reading trends.
- Generating reminders, billing statements, and disconnection notices.
- Performing any other related duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Commerce majoring in Finance or Accounting, or any other related field from a recognized institution.
- Alternatively, possession of Intermediate Certificate (Module D) offered by NBAA.
- Must be computer literate.
- Applicants must be Tanzanian citizens.
General Conditions:
- The volunteer appointment will be for a period of one year.
- The position applied for must be clearly indicated in the heading of the application letter and on the envelope.
- Transcripts, testimonials, provisional results, statement of results, and Form Six certificates are not acceptable.
- Applicants with foreign academic qualifications must ensure their certificates are verified by relevant authorities such as TCU and NECTA.
- Submission of forged certificates or false information will lead to legal action.
- Hand delivery of applications to KUWASA is not allowed.
- Never pay any money for the application process as any payment request is fraudulent.
