Account & Grants Assistant
Job Description

The Accounts & Grants Assistant plays an important role in supporting the Country Office’s financial operations by ensuring accurate financial recording, grant management support, compliance with donor and organizational requirements, and effective financial reporting. The position contributes to strong internal controls, audit readiness, financial data integrity, and efficient programme implementation.
Responsibilities
- Support financial management activities for the Country Office and donor-funded projects
- Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation within SAP and other financial systems
- Process financial transactions in accordance with Plan International policies and procedures
- Perform account reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of discrepancies
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes
- Assist in preparing financial reports and maintaining accurate financial data for management decision-making
- Ensure compliance with Plan International policies, donor regulations, tax laws, and statutory requirements
- Support audit preparation by maintaining complete and accurate financial documentation
- Assist in implementing recommendations arising from internal and external audits
- Maintain custody, accountability, and proper management of petty cash and other financial instruments
- Support grants financial management and compliance monitoring for donor-funded projects
- Work closely with Supply Chain, Programme, People & Culture, Project Finance teams, and National Offices on finance-related matters
- Promote strong internal controls and contribute to continuous improvement of financial processes and systems
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field
- Minimum of two years of relevant experience in finance and accounting, preferably within an NGO or donor-funded environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good communication skills with the ability to engage different stakeholders effectively
- Proficiency in computer applications and accounting software packages
- Basic knowledge of Power BI and financial reporting tools is an added advantage
- Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary and multicultural environments
- Good command of written and spoken English
- Ability to work under demanding operational conditions
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment
General Conditions
- Full-time position based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
- Reports to the Finance Manager – Input & Controls
- Grade 12 position
