Tanganyika Blue is a Kigoma-based aquaculture fish farm producing high-quality, sustainably farmed tilapia for regional markets. The company aims to build a structured fish distribution network that strengthens food security, creates economic opportunities, and delivers reliable value to communities across Tanzania and neighboring markets including Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Job Summary
The Sales Officer is responsible for driving sales growth and expanding the market presence of Tanganyika Blue fish products through the development of multiple sales channels. These include the Community Traders Programme, expansion of HORECA and supermarket accounts, and growth into regional and cross-border distribution markets.
This is a field-based role requiring strong client relationship management, identification of new market opportunities, and close collaboration with internal teams to achieve sales targets. The role requires a proactive, solution-oriented individual with good commercial judgement and independent problem-solving abilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruit, onboard, and manage community traders
- Develop and grow HORECA, supermarket, regional, and cross-border accounts
- Coordinate closely with the second Sales Officer to align strategy and market coverage
- Manage daily cash collections, credit control, and repayment tracking
- Coordinate delivery schedules and distribution logistics
- Identify and support establishment of a strategic depot location in Kigoma
- Monitor sales performance and adjust recruitment, pricing, or channel strategies as needed
- Represent Tanganyika Blue professionally with traders, distributors, and institutional buyers
Qualifications and Experience
- Basic understanding of pricing, margins, and credit management
- Willingness to travel within the region, including potential cross-border engagement
- Experience in sales, distribution, FMCG, agribusiness, cross-border trade, or working with informal traders and structured clients is an advantage
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record are advantageous but not mandatory

- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lead sales presentations and close deals
- Strong analytical abilities with attention to detail
- Self-driven with the ability to make well-informed decisions independently
- Proficiency in both Swahili and English (spoken and written)
