Duties and Responsibilities:
The Medical Specialist – Gynaecologist II will perform all hospital-based clinical duties related to obstetrics and gynaecological conditions within their specialty. The role includes teaching students in health training institutions located within the area of assignment, investigating, monitoring, and preventing disease outbreaks, and preparing continuing professional development programs for health workers.
The specialist will supervise and guide subordinate staff, oversee personnel under their charge, design, conduct, and evaluate research and disseminate findings, and develop strategies to improve the quality of specialized services. Additional responsibilities include providing outreach services within designated zones, delivering medico-legal services, participating in the formulation and supervision of government health policies and plans, advising the Ministry on health service operations, serving as a member of the medical board for assessment of employees retiring due to health conditions, preparing curricula for continuing education of health personnel, and preparing health service plans and budget estimates.
Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a Master’s Degree in Obstetrics and Gynaecology or a PhD in the relevant medical specialty from a government-recognized university. Candidates must also be registered with the Medical Council of Tanganyika.
