Relationship Manager (Corporate Banking)
Job Description
This role is a senior client-facing position within corporate banking, focused on managing and growing a portfolio of high-value business clients for BANK OF AFRICA Tanzania. The Relationship Manager acts as the primary contact point between the bank and corporate customers, ensuring strong financial relationships and delivering tailored banking solutions.
It is both a sales-driven and risk-management role that combines business development, credit analysis, and portfolio monitoring. The position plays a central role in driving revenue growth while maintaining credit quality and compliance with banking regulations.
Responsibilities
- Manage and grow a portfolio of corporate banking clients
- Develop and maintain long-term relationships with key corporate customers
- Identify new business opportunities and acquire new corporate clients
- Promote and cross-sell banking products and financial services
- Analyze client financial needs and recommend suitable banking solutions
- Prepare and structure credit proposals for approval processes
- Negotiate loan terms, credit facilities, and financial agreements
- Monitor client performance, loan utilization, and repayment behavior
- Conduct periodic credit reviews, renewals, and portfolio assessments
- Ensure compliance with credit policies, banking regulations, and internal procedures
- Manage reputational and operational risks within assigned portfolio
- Track exposures against approved credit limits and risk thresholds
- Resolve client complaints and ensure service quality standards are met
- Collaborate with internal teams (credit, risk, operations, legal) for service delivery
- Develop and execute portfolio growth and client engagement strategies
- Participate in networking activities to enhance bank visibility
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Commerce, Economics, Banking, or related field
- 3–5 years’ experience in corporate banking, relationship management, or credit roles
- Strong experience in credit analysis, structuring, and underwriting
- Good understanding of banking regulations, policies, and risk frameworks
- Strong financial analysis and interpretation skills
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage complex corporate client relationships
- Strong sales and business development capability
- High level of professionalism and client service orientation
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
