The Tradesperson 1 – Welder position is responsible for carrying out welding and fabrication tasks safely and to the required quality standards. The role supports both planned maintenance and emergency repair activities by ensuring equipment is repaired, inspected, and returned to service in a safe and efficient manner.

Responsibilities

• Interpret engineering drawings and blueprints before commencing welding work
• Measure, mark, and cut materials according to specified dimensions and requirements
• Perform welding using appropriate techniques and materials to join metal components
• Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with blueprint specifications and quality tolerances
• Execute both planned maintenance and unplanned repair tasks efficiently
• Safely release repaired equipment back to operations after completing assigned work
• Apply approved welding procedures, safety standards, and best practices during all tasks
• Maintain high-quality workmanship while meeting production timelines
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and report completed work and any identified issues promptly

Qualifications Required

• VETA Trade Test Certificate Grade One in Welding or an equivalent qualification
• Good computer skills
• Valid Tanzanian driving licence
• Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints and technical drawings
• Competence in measuring, cutting, fitting, and welding materials to specification
• Knowledge of quality control procedures and tolerance verification
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety standards
• Good communication and reporting skills
