DIT Programmes/Courses Offered 2026/2027

The National Council for Technical Education (NACTE) has granted DIT full accreditation to conduct its programs and award scholarships to qualified applicants in accordance with NACTE and school policies. The National Technical Award (NTA) Ordinary Diploma Programs (Levels 4–6), Bachelor Degree Programs (NTA Levels 7–8), and Master Degree Programs (NTA Level 9) are the awards that are being offered. Additionally, DIT is authorized to provide vocational training through its VETA registration at NVA levels I–III.

The Vocational Education Training Authority (VETA) has authorized the India Tanzania Center of Excellence in Information and Communication Technology (COEICT) in Dar es Salaam, DIT Myunga Campus in Songwe, and DIT Mwanza Campus to offer vocational training programs at National Vocational Awards (NVA) Level 1–3 in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

Basic Technician Certificate and Technician Certificate:

NTAs 4-5 offer two distinct departure levels: the Basic Technician Certificate and the Technician Certificate. Students who successfully complete the criteria for an NTA 4 or NTA 5 Basic Technician Certificate but decide to withdraw or are unable to obtain an Ordinary Diploma will receive the appropriate award.

  1. Ordinary Diploma in Computer Engineering
  2. Ordinary Diploma in Civil Engineering (offered at DIT Main campus and Myunga campus)
  3. Ordinary Diploma in Electrical Engineering
  4. Ordinary Diploma in Renewable Energy Technology
  5. Ordinary Diploma in Biomedical Equipment Engineering
  6. Ordinary Diploma in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering
  7. Ordinary Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
  8. Ordinary Diploma in Science and Laboratory Technology (offered at DIT Main campus and Mwanza campus)
  9. Ordinary Diploma in Mining Engineering
  10. Ordinary Diploma Communication System Technology
  11. Ordinary Diploma in Information Technology
  12. Ordinary Diploma Multimedia and Film Technology
  13. Ordinary Diploma in Food Science and Technology
  14. Ordinary Diploma in Biotechnology
  15. Ordinary Diploma in Food Processing Technologies (offered at Mwanza campus).
  16. Ordinary Diploma in Leather Processing Technologies (offered at Mwanza campus)

Higher Diploma Programmes:

The bachelor’s degree program includes the higher diploma. Students who successfully complete the prerequisites for the advantages of a Higher Diploma but decide to drop out or are unable to complete their bachelor’s degree will be granted the Higher Diploma (NTA 7).

Bachelor Degrees Programmes (NTA 8):

For Ordinary Diploma holders, the bachelor’s degree programs last three years, whereas for Form Six graduates, they last four years. The degree programs that DIT currently offers are shown below.

  1. Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) in Computer Engineering
  2. Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) in Civil Engineering
  3. Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) in Electrical Engineering
  4. Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering
  5. Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) in Mechanical Engineering
  6. Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Laboratory Sciences
  7. Bachelor of Engineering in Oil and Gas Engineering
  8. Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) in Biomedical Engineering.
  9. Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) in Mining Engineering

Masters’ Programmes (NTA 9):

DIT offers three postgraduate degrees to solve technology concerns and market demand capability.

  • 18-month Master of Engineering program in Maintenance Management
  • Computational Science and Engineering Master’s degree (18 months)
  • 18-month Master of Technology in Communication and Computing and
  • Sustainable Energy Engineering Master’s Program (24 months)
  • Coursework and dissertations are used to offer these programs.
