Financial Controller
Job Description
GEOFIELDS (T) LIMITED, operating as AUMS Geofields Tanzania Limited (AUMSGT), is a leading mechanised underground mining contractor and part of Perenti Limited. The Financial Controller role is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing all finance-related functions within the organization. The position ensures accurate financial reporting, effective cash flow management, compliance with statutory requirements, and strong internal controls. The role also supports strategic decision-making and contributes to the company’s long-term financial sustainability and operational success.
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly financial reports and ensure accurate and timely month-end reporting
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations within required timelines
- Oversee accounts payable processes and ensure timely payment of reconciled supplier balances
- Supervise accounts receivable functions and manage reconciliation of intercompany and supplier accounts
- Review and submit statutory tax filings, including VAT, PAYE, Withholding Taxes, and other statutory obligations
- Coordinate and support half-year audits, annual audits, government audits, and compliance reviews
- Monitor cash flow requirements and manage working capital efficiently
- Support financial planning and operational sustainability initiatives
- Supervise finance and accounting personnel and provide guidance and training
- Manage accounting operations, taxation activities, payroll functions, and accounts payable processes
- Assist in preparing annual budgets, financial forecasts, and management reports
- Maintain high standards of professionalism, conduct, and presentation
- Uphold company values and ethical standards
- Ensure accurate maintenance of accounting records
- Monitor and control accounting functions
- Ensure financial reports are delivered within stipulated timelines
- Promote effective communication throughout the organization
- Maintain professional relationships with clients and stakeholders
- Establish strong communication channels with management
- Contribute positively as a member of the leadership team
- Support the achievement of company goals and objectives
Qualification required
- Advanced tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline
- CPA, ACCA, CA, or another internationally recognized accounting certification
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar accounting or finance leadership role
- Strong experience in financial reporting
- Proven expertise in tax management
- Experience in budgeting and financial forecasting
- Audit coordination experience
- Team supervision and staff development experience
- Strong cash flow and working capital management skills
- Strong leadership and management capabilities
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- High level of integrity and accountability
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
- Ability to pass AUMSGT pre-employment medical examination
- Ability to pass police clearance and security background checks
